Situated in east China's coastal area, with a coastal line of 487 km, and embracing the two metropolises of Beijing and Tianjin, Hebei province enjoys an ideal geographic location and possesses competitive edge in the economic activities in the Bohai-Rim and area Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei economic zone, which are designated as a priority for economic development in China. <br></br> Over the past two decades since China adopted the reform and opening-up policy, Hebei has made great achievements in its modernization drive. Hebei has become one of the fastest growing areas in China and there is room to develop and expand. <br></br> Hebei is one of the major production bases of cereals, cotton and edible oil in China and serves as an important base of aquatic and livestock products in north China. Hebei is also among the major provinces with rich mineral resources. <br></br> Hebei realized 2,980.61 billion yuan of GDP in 2015, up 6.8% year on year, and its industrial added value reached 1,438.80 billion yuan, up 4.7% year on year. Fixed-asset investment grew 10.4% year on year in 2015 to 2,944.83 billion yuan, and its Consumer Price Index (CPI) growth stood at 0.9%.

Shanxi Business Environment & Assessment Report (2016)
Shanxi Province covers an area of 156,700 square kilometers, accounting for 1.6% of China’s total area. The province stretches 682 kilometers from north to south and 385 kilometers from east to west. <br></br> The province belongs to the loess plateau, with the layout boundary of a parallelogram slanting from north-east to south-west. Mountainous region and hills make up 80.1% of the whole province while the figure for plains and valleys is 19.9%. <br></br> By the end of 2015, there were 36.64 million permanent residents in the province, among which 0.3% were ethnic minorities, including Hui, Man, Mongol, Yi, Miao and Tujia, etc, according to a sample survey on the population of the province in 2015. <br></br> Shanxi’s economy saw over 10% annual growth in the past three decades but its growth has slowed down as the province determined to upgrade economic structure and accelerate reforms. <br></br> Shanxi boasts rich reserves of coal. Reserves of coal, coal bed methane, bauxite, refractory clay, laterite and potassic rock rank first in China. Reserves of golden red stone, pearl rock, gallium, vermiculite, grey rock for glasses take up the second place. The proved reserves of coal amount to 260 billion tons, or one-third of the whole country's total. Hence Shanxi has been known as "the Ocean of Coal." With the features of full types and good quality, coal is extensively distributed in Datong, Ningwu, Western mountain, Huoxi, Hedong and Qinshui coalfields. <br></br> Shanxi’s gross domestic product (GDP) stood at 1.28 trillion yuan in 2015, and the growth rate slowed to 3.1%. The province’s growth ranked the 24th among the 31 provinces and autonomous regions on the Chinese mainland in 2015.

Situated at the lower reaches of the Yellow River and on China's eastern coastline, Shandong Province's territory consists of the Shandong Peninsular and adjacent inlands. Protruding into the conjunction area of the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, the peninsula faces the Liaodong Peninsular of Liaoning Province over the sea. Its inland adjoins the provinces of Hebei, Henan, Anhui and Jiangsu. The province stretches 420 km from south to north and 700 km from east to west, covering an area of 156,700 square kilometers. <br></br> Shandong is rich in marine resources. Its offshore area makes up 37% of the total surface area of the Bohai and Yellow seas, with a shoal area accounting for 15% of the nation's total. <br></br> A total of 128 varieties of minerals, or 78% of that found in China, have been discovered in the province, of which 33 have their surveyed deposits listed among the top tens of the nation. <br></br> One of China's major agricultural production bases, Shandong is known as "a warehouse of grains, cotton, and oil, and the land of fruits and aquatic products." <br></br> The province is one of China's important energy bases, with the Shengli Oilfield being the second largest of its kind in the country, and Zhongyuan, another oilfield, having a major part on its territory. The crude oil produced in Shandong makes up one-third of the nation's total. <br></br> With beautiful natural landscapes and numerous historical and cultural relics, Shandong has rich tourist resources. It offers a string of tourist attractions, such as Mount Taishan and the Temple, Mansion and Cemetery of Confucius, two World Heritage sites. <br></br> Shandong realized 6,300.23 billion yuan of GDP in 2015, up 8% year on year, and its industrial added value reached 2,948.59 billion yuan, up 7.4% year on year. Fixed-asset investment grew 13.9% year on year in 2015 to 4738.15 billion yuan, and its Consumer Price Index (CPI) growth stood at 1.2% year on year.

Qinghai Business Environment & Assessment Report (2016)
Qinghai Province lies in the northeast of the Qinghai-Tibet plateau with an area of 722,300 square kilometers. Situated 89°35′-103°04′ east longitude and 31°9′-39°19′ north latitude, it got its name from a lake called Qinghai Lake, which is the biggest inland saltwater lake in China. <br></br> Flanked by two big mountain ranges – Qilian in the north, Tanggula in the south, 4/5 of this highland averages 3,000 meters above sea level. In its middle, stands another big mountain spur – the Kunlun. About 95% of the province’s land is pastureland. Two major Chinese waters, the Yangtze and the Yellow Rivers all originate here: one from the southwest slop of the main peak of Tanggula; one from northern slope of Bayanhar. This feature has earned the province a name as the source of the rivers. <br></br> Qinghai is the divide between farming area and pastoral area and contains three kinds of climate patterns, namely continental monsoon climate, inland arid climate and Qinghai-Tibet plateau climate. The average temperature for a year is from –5.6° C to 8.6° C. <br></br> Qinghai Province has two prefecture-level cities, six autonomous prefectures, three county-level cities, 27 counties and seven autonomous counties. Xining is the capital city of the province. <br></br> Qinghai had a total resident population of 5.88 million by the end of 2015, of which urban population was 2.96 million while rural population was 2.92 million, representing 50.3 % and 49.7% of the total, respectively. The minority population was 2.8 million at the end of 2015, accounting for 47.71% of the total.

Tianjin Business Environment & Assessment Report (2016)
Tianjin is located along the west coast of the Bohai Gulf. <br></br> According to preliminary statistics of Tianjin, Tianjin realized some 1.65 trillion yuan of GDP in 2015, up 9.3% on year. Of that, the primary industry accounted for 21.051 billion yuan, up 2.5%, the secondary industry, 772.36 billion yuan, up 9.2%, and tertiary industry, 860.41 billion yuan, up 9.6%. The sector composition continued to optimize to 1.3:46.7:52.0. <br></br> The value of imports and exports of Tianjin totaled 114.35 billion US dollars in 2015, down 14.6% from 2014. Specifically, the export value decreased 2.7% to 51.18 billion US dollars, while the import value declined 22.3% on year to 63.16 billion US dollars.

Liaoning Business Environment & Assessment Report (2016)
Northeast China's Liaoning province borders the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea in the south and the Korean Peninsula in the east, and faces Japan to the southeast. The province takes an area of 148,000 square kilometers and accounts for 1.5% of China's land mass. <br></br> The province is located in the southern part of middle latitude and eastern coast of Eurasia. It has a temperate continental monsoon climate that rain and hot weather come at the same time with abundant sunlight and significant annual variation in temperature. <br></br> There are 14 prefecture-level cities, 17 county-level cities, 27 counties (including eight ethnic minority autonomous counties) and 56 municipal districts administrated by the government of Liaoning.
